Each year, players of the McHenry County Hurricanes Travel Baseball Association donate their time to help the community through volunteerism. This is the PITCH (Players Investing Towards Community Help) program you have heard about. This year, the 13U team decided to partner with the 9U team, raising food for the needy in McHenry County by supporting the Cary Food Pantry. We feel this project will have a meaningful impact not only on our players, but on the community as well, especially in light of the dramatic increase in demand placed on our area food pantries over the past year. People who have never had to ask for assistance before are finding themselves in that situation. We gathered on April 15th to volunteer a couple of hours to help out at the pantry. Some tasks they were asked to do included soliciting donations over a period of 2 weeks prior to the event, then sorting, boxing or loading the collected food onto the shelves at the Food Pantry.
